Ciro Pellegrino is among the most widely recognised Italian practitioners in corporate criminal law, with over thirty-five years of experience advising companies and entrepreneurs.

His practice focuses on the management of highly complex proceedings, often involving significant cross-border implications and intense media scrutiny, where he combines strategic vision, deep technical expertise and rigorous protection of confidentiality and client interests.

He regularly assists companies in defining criminal risk management strategies, in the design and implementation of organisational and control models, and in the conduct of defensive investigations and internal inquiries in accordance with the Italian Code of Criminal Procedure and international sector standards, working in constant dialogue with corporate governance bodies and senior management.

He has developed long-standing and specific expertise in international sports justice, representing federations and athletes before the leading jurisdictions, including the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne and the independent tribunals appointed by ATP and ITF, in proceedings relating to betting, anti-doping and the integrity of competitions.

He has served as Chair of the Bar Examination Commission and has presided over numerous arbitral panels in matters concerning sports-related offences.

Born in Naples in 1965, after an outstanding academic career, he graduated in Law summa cum laude at the age of 22 from LUISS Guido Carli, with publication of his thesis.

He ranked among the top candidates in the Italian Bar Examination and is currently admitted to practice before the Italian Supreme Courts.

He carries out extensive academic activity as a lecturer at the Università degli Studi della Tuscia and at the LUISS Guido Carli School of Management, having previously taught at the Carabinieri Officers’ School, LUMSA University and the University of Rome Tor Vergata.

He has been a member of several ministerial commissions for the reform of criminal law in the fields of economic crime and corporate law and acts as counsel to some of the most prominent Italian and international business groups.

His clientele includes leading banking institutions, major corporate groups, international investment funds and public institutions. Managers, entrepreneurs and senior figures in government and politics rely on his assistance in the most sensitive matters and operations of their professional activities.

He collaborates with leading sector experts, including Confindustria, on issues relating to corporate liability arising from criminal offences pursuant to Legislative Decree No. 231/2001.

Ciro Pellegrino carries out his professional activity nationwide and internationally, acting as defence counsel in white-collar criminal matters.

His long-standing passion for sport, combined with deep regulatory expertise, has also made him, for over twenty years, lead counsel to the Federazione Italiana Tennis e Padel.

At an academic level, he lectures on anti-corruption and anti-money laundering law within the Master in Business Law at LUISS University in Rome. He has previously taught IT Law and currently holds the chair of Law of Investigations and Privacy at the University of Tuscia.

He is the author of numerous publications and is a frequent speaker in media programmes addressing legal and justice-related issues.

He serves as Chair of several Supervisory Bodies (Organismi di Vigilanza) of leading Italian and international companies, has participated in ministerial commissions on corporate liability and bankruptcy crimes, and has been a member of arbitral and supervisory bodies at CONSOB and CONI.



Admitted to the Rome Bar, he is authorised to appear before the Court of Cassation and the higher courts.
